FAQS
(Frequently asked questions)
HERE ARE SOME ANSWERS TO OUR FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Fecal testing:

Did you get a reminder about a “Fecal Dx Profile (K9-Feline)” or a “Fecal - Exotic”? This means that your pet is due for a gastrointestinal parasite test. We recommend testing annually.  You are welcome to drop off a fecal sample any time during our office hours: weekdays from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. the laboratory testing fee will be $51 (K9-Feline) and $54 (exotic) to send out to the lab. Please note that a fresher sample ensures the most accurate results!

Dogs & Cats: The sample must be no more than 12 hours old and at least the size of a tablespoon.
Birds: The night before you bring the sample in, place a sheet of wax or parchment paper underneath your bird's favorite perch to collect droppings overnight. We need a sample that is at least the size of a teaspoon, or roughly the size of your thumbnail. Once collected, fold the paper inward and place it inside a Ziploc bag.

Exotics: Please ensure the fecal sample is no more than 12 hours old and is at least the size of a teaspoon, or roughly the size of your thumbnail.

Results take 24 to 48 hours to complete, our motto is “no news is good news”, and if anything comes back positive, you will be informed right away.

Animals we do NOT treat:

My pet has a procedure tomorrow morning; is there anything I need to do the night before?

For Dogs & Cats: Please make sure they fast the night before. DO NOT GIVE FOOD OR WATER AFTER MIDNIGHT!
All Rodents & Rabbits: Make sure they continue eating and pack their favorite snack so that after their procedure we can encourage some mkeating!
Any other animal, please call to check with the staff.

What is a technician appointment?

If you have no health concerns for your pet and just need vaccine update, nail trim, bloodwork, etc, you can schedule a technician appointment with one of our technicians. At a technician appointment, when you come in at your scheduled time, a technician will meet you in the lobby and take your pet back with them to the treatment area, perform the requested services they needed for the appointment, and bring them back up to you. You will wait comfortably in the lobby until your pet is done with their visit. The deposit required at the time of scheduling is $25, and that covers the technician service fee. Any additional cost will be added during/after the appointment.

If you would like to be in a room with your pet instead, we offer technician visits. A technician visit is when you sit in a room with your pet while the technician does whatever needs to be done, and you will be with them the entire time. This option requires a $45 deposit at the time of scheduling, and that covers the technician service fee. Any additional cost will be added during or after the appointment.

Please note that if you have any health concerns, the technician will advise you to schedule an appointment with one of our doctors here at our next soonest availability.
